Accessing our Services

  • You can be referred to Positive+ CBT by a health professional such as your GP, psychiatrist or occupational health physician, or
  • Alternatively you can self-refer and contact us directly. Our office will then arrange an initial appointment for an assessment.

The first appointment is used to gather relevant information and identify the nature of the problem. This assessment helps inform the best treatment and provides you with the opportunity to decide on the approach most likely to suit you. CBT is not the best approach for every problem.

The various private medical insurers have different policies and methods of payment. Some insurers only cover a percentage of the fees. It is important to clarify the situation with your insurer before making an appointment but do please call uf if you would like to discuss your insurance policy. We work with the major insurers and so will endeavour to help whenever we can.

Fees:  For individual private clients fees are payable on a session by session basis in advance. Assessment / discharge reports incur an additional cost. Most sessions last 55 minutes.

Cancellations & missed appointments

We ask you to give us at least 48 hours notice if you are going to cancel your appointment so we are able to offer that time to another person.  A full fee will be charged if we receive less than 24 hours notice. Missed appointments will be charged at the full rate

Communicating with third parties

We prefer to inform your Family Doctor that you are receiving treatment but only with your written consent. We will also only communicate with other agencies such as your employer, lawyers or other doctors again only with your written consent.
